Does my guitar need a Re-Fret and Setup?
A Re-Fret is a perfect way to optimise the performance of your instrument if it is suffering from either excessive fret wear beyond the point of a Fret Dress, uneven fretting, uneven areas of the fingerboard, or just the desire for a different fret size/fret material, ensuring the very best play-ability!
What is a Re-Fret and Setup?
A Re-Fret is a process of removing and replacing the frets on a guitar. But as well as being a maintenance service which is compared to changing tires on a car, for most guitars, a Re-Fret is also a great upgrade as factory fretwork is often sub-par with issues such as uneven fretting, over-chamfered fret ends, poor polishing or just not liking the size of the stock fret wire!
A Re-Fret is truly an upgrade and personalisation of an instrument and there are a few factors that can be personalised to your exact needs. For example, there are dozens of different fret wire sizes available, the fingerboard can be Re-Radiused during the Re-Fret to a radius of your choice, or even a compound radius! As well as this, you can also solve a lot of problems with string spacing with a Re-Fret and a new Handmade Bone Nut. Because many manufacturers over chafer the fret ends instead of dressing the fret ends correctly, you lose a lot of playing area on the top of the fret. But with our Re-Frets, we leave the fret ends at a steeper angle but spend a lot of time perfectly rounding the fret ends to achieve optimal comfort as well as increased playing surface width. Then with a new Handmade Bone Nut, we can set a wider string spacing to eliminate any cramped feel while playing down towards the nut. A Re-Fret really is an excellent upgrade for your guitar and allows a vast array of customization options.
What does the Fret Dress and Setup with Fret Polish Include?

or humps which will limit performance, and if desired there is the option to
change the radius or introduce a compound radius
- New frets of your choice installed (there are many options for fret wire sizes
and alloys to fit your needs)
- Leveling of the frets to ensure a perfectly even playing surface
- Re-profiling the frets to the correct round shape
